How to Make the Perfect Vegan Charcuterie Board

Just because you’re vegan doesn't mean you have to miss out on charcuterie boards! Though charcuterie boards are typically arranged with an abundance of meats and cheeses, there’s plenty of options to make these delicious snack boards completely plant-based. Follow this guide to learn how to make the perfect vegan charcuterie board.

Staples

If you really want to make your charcuterie board as similar as possible to the classic, try out some vegan meats and cheeses to replace the real thing. Vegan salami, sausages, and even jerky are easy to find in most stores, along with vegan parmesan and cheddar hard cheeses. For soft cheese, look for creamy vegan spreads flavored with herbs or sundried tomatoes (Miyokos has some great options!) If you’re less interested in vegan substitutes, there’s a ton of other great options to fill your charcuterie board. Tomato bruschetta or white bean crostinis with balsamic vinegar are quick and easy to make, and delicious as a centerpiece to your board. In addition, dips such as hummus, baba ganoush, seasoned olive oil, tapenade or guacamole can add a ton of variety and ensure everyone can find something they enjoy. Don’t forget to include crackers, bread and vegetables like sliced cucumbers, carrots, or radishes to scoop up all your dips.

Additions

A charcuterie board is never complete until it’s completely overflowing with delicious treats, so make sure to add in lots of snacks until your board is full. Fruit is a great addition, especially some sweet apples or grapes, or even dried fruit like apricots. Another tasty inclusion is nuts, either smoked, roasted or raw. Almonds, pistachios and walnuts are my go-tos. Finish your board off with some pickles and olives.

Alternatives

You don’t have to feel restricted to the classic savory charcuterie board. The possibilities for creating a snack board are really endless! If you would prefer a sweet charcuterie board, some great ideas are fruit (think strawberries and apples) and honey. Pour chocolate covered pretzels and caramel popcorn into bowls and surround with fruit like strawberries and apples, and honey. Cookies like Love + Chew's Cherry Almond can be cut into pieces to add some chewy texture, and other sweet treats like yogurt covered berries or dark chocolate can complete your dessert board! For an antipasto themed board, surround roasted red peppers, artichokes, and marinated olives with thin slices of crusty bread, almonds and vegan mozzarella.
