If you’ve never heard of nutritional yeast, and are trying out plant-based for the first time, you will love this magical ingredient. Not only is it a vegan hack to add a “cheesy” flavor to sauces, snacks, pastas, etc, it is a complete protein and a good source of B vitamins.
B12 deficiency is common amongst vegans, and can only be found in animal products for the most part. This is where nutritional yeast comes in! Each tablespoon has 5mcg of B12, which is more than the daily recommended amount.
Plus it’s been known to lower cholesterol levels, and boost immunity.
You’re probably wondering… How do I eat nutritional yeast? We’ll have recipes all month long, but here are a few of my favorite recipes.
- Vegan Green Chilil Mac N Cheese
- Cheese Sauce
- Sprinkle Nutritional Yeast on popcorn
- Vegan Quesadillas
- Add to soups or salads
